Statement of Councillor Roe, Town Mayor, Carnforth Town Council:
The Town Council has established that proposals regarding Town Centre parking schemes are being considered by Lancashire County Council’s Cabinet on 3rd December 2018. The proposal is to consult on a number of proposed schemes and that consultation will enable residents, businesses and all other interested parties to make their views known.
As Town Mayor it is my belief that if consultation on the proposal is approved by the County Council Cabinet on 3rd December, the Town Council will seek to work with the Chamber of Trade, local businesses, residents and our County and City Councillors to oppose the implementation of any parking scheme which we believe will have a detrimental effect on local businesses and the town.
We know there are parking issues in our town and the Town Council wants to find a solution which encourages residents and visitors to support Carnforth’s thriving local businesses and the wider community, and we are committed to achieving that.
