War Memorial Gardens
Carnforth Town Council owns and maintains the War Memorial Gardens in the town centre. A place to meet up and relax or sit in the sun and enjoy lunch after a busy morning amongst the well maintained gardens.
The War Memorial Gardens are also the venue for the annual service of remembrance and the Wednesday market organised by the Carnforth and District Chamber of Trade.
The Town Council provides some bus shelters, seating in open spaces and some of the floral decoration in the town. This is a part of the Town Council's aim to make Carnforth an even better place to live, work and visit.
Town Councillors are elected to represent the concerns and interests of the people of Carnforth. They are unpaid and meet eleven times each year in full session of the Council on the 3rd Wednesday of every month with the exception of August. There are also three committees focused on particular areas of the Council's work.
Residents are welcome to attend any meeting of the Council, including committees. If you wish to address the Council the chair of the meeting with make provision for you to do so.
Each year Carnforth commemorates the fallen of Carnforth in a Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial Gardens. The Town Council organises this event to allow residents and local organisations to join in remembering those of Carnforth who gave their lives for our country.
The Town Council organises events for residents to join in. Recently these have included a free to enter competition for the best outside Christmas lights. A free to enter gardening competition and free guided walks around Carnforth and its surrounding countryside.
