Just a few weeks ago we came together as a community of friends to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Now, all too soon, we mourn and reflect on our Queen’s passing, the death of the Mother of the nation, as well as a much loved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
Many of you will want to record your thoughts at this sad time and I would like to invite you to sign one of two books of condolence that have been made available by Carnforth Town Council.
One book will be placed in the reception area of the Royal Station Hotel opposite the War Memorial Gardens and one in the entrance to Christ Church Carnforth.
The books will remain open until the day after the State Funeral, after which they will be held at Carnforth Civic Hall for a period to be determined before being sent to the County Archives.
God bless HM Queen Elizabeth and may she rest in peace. God save the King.
Councillor Chris Smith, Town Mayor, Carnforth Town Council
